Michael Kennedy is a postgraduate student and lecturer at the University of Western Sydney, presently engaged in PhD study/research in relation to policing ... "A Class Analysis of Policing".
Prior to his academic work Michael was a detective in The New South Wales Police Service for almost 20 years with expertise in the investigation of organised crime, child protection, major crime and The Bureau of Crime Intelligence.
A past committee member on the New South Wales Council for Civil Liberties, Michael has prepared and delivered submissions to a number of inquiries related to criminal justice and civil rights.
Consulting to the drama industry, Michael is presently working with Knapman Wyld Television as Crime Consultant for "White Collar Blue". Early success with writing and research was with the multi-award winning ABC adult drama "Wildside", produced by Gannon Jenkins Television. In the past Michael has consulted for The ABC, Fox Studios, Artists Services including Young Lions and Black Jack.
Michael continues to research and write for the film and television industry and is a guest lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.
Academic and research focus has been on law and order, criminal justice, bullying and minority/ethnic groups.
